Selon\u00a0 Sophie Souied, CEO d\u2019Unilever Belux, les entreprises qui n\u2019investissent pas dans la durabilit\u00e9 sont vou\u00e9es \u00e0 dispara\u00eetre.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<h2>\nHuile de palme<\/h2>\n<p>Pour Unilever la principale mati\u00e8re premi\u00e8re est de loin l\u2019huile de palme : celle-ci est pr\u00e9sente dans quasi tous les snacks et produits d\u2019hygi\u00e8ne du groupe, allant du chocolat au shampooing. Or l\u2019huile de palme est tr\u00e8s controvers\u00e9e, car le d\u00e9veloppement de plantations de palmiers \u00e0 huile est l\u2019une des causes de la d\u00e9forestation, notamment en dans le Sud-Est de l\u2019Asie.<\/p>\n<p>\nDepuis que Greenpeace a d\u00e9nonc\u00e9 l\u2019origine parfois douteuse de l\u2019huile de palme, Unilever exige des certificats physiques afin de garantir l\u2019origine de l\u2019huile. \u00ab En 2018, 66% de notre huile de palme \u00e9tait certifi\u00e9e physiquement, d\u2019ici la fin de cette ann\u00e9e nous voulons atteindre 100% \u00bb, souligne Sophie Souied, CEO d\u2019Unilever Belux. \u00ab Je ne nie pas que c\u2019est un d\u00e9fi, mais nous pouvons progresser rapidement. Depuis ce rapport, Wilmar, le plus grand marchand d\u2019huile de palme, a proc\u00e9d\u00e9 \u00e0 des changements, apr\u00e8s quoi Greenpeace a suspendu sa campagne contre l\u2019entreprise. \u00bb<\/p>\n<h2>\nPlastique<\/h2>\n<p>Le deuxi\u00e8me grand d\u00e9fi pour Unilever est le plastique : l\u2019emballage de ses produits n\u00e9cessite des milliers de tonnes de plastique. \u00ab Nous misons sur trois axes : moins de plastique, du meilleur plastique et pas de plastique. \u00bb Outre les \u00e9tudes en vue d\u2019utiliser moins de plastique pour les emballages, l\u2019entreprise essaye de recycler autant que possible \u2013 par exemple en collaboration avec Ioniqa, qui a d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 une technique permettant de recycler enti\u00e8rement le PET. Parall\u00e8lement Unilever recherche des alternatives pour le plastique, comme des brosses \u00e0 dents en bambou ou des d\u00e9tergents sans emballage plastique.<\/p>\n<p>\nVu la croissance de la population mondiale et la consommation accrue dans les pays en voie de d\u00e9veloppement, la demande de plastique devrait quadrupler d\u2019ici 2050. Souied voit une seule vraie solution \u00e0 ce probl\u00e8me, \u00e0 savoir le mod\u00e8le circulaire. Un mod\u00e8le dont nous sommes encore tr\u00e8s \u00e9loign\u00e9s aujourd\u2019hui : actuellement seul 5% de tout le plastique dans le monde est recycl\u00e9.<\/p>\n<h2>\nCO2<\/h2>\n<p>Depuis 2008 Unilever est parvenu \u00e0 r\u00e9duire de pr\u00e8s de moiti\u00e9 les \u00e9missions de CO2 de ses usines. N\u00e9anmoins sur l\u2019ensemble de la cha\u00eene ses \u00e9missions de CO2 ont augment\u00e9 de 9%, alors que l\u2019entreprise a grandi de 33%. \u00ab Nous voulons op\u00e9rer enti\u00e8rement avec de l\u2019\u00e9lectricit\u00e9 verte d\u2019ici l\u2019an prochain et \u00eatre neutres en CO2 d\u2019ici 2030. Nous y arriverons. Notre objectif est m\u00eame de g\u00e9n\u00e9rer plus d\u2019\u00e9nergie verte que n\u00e9cessaire. Dans l\u2019usine de Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s aux Pays-Bas le courant r\u00e9siduel est converti en courant et en chaleur verts. Nos mesures \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques nous ont permis d\u2019\u00e9conomiser 500 millions d\u2019euros depuis 2018 \u00bb, affirme Souied.<\/p>\n<h2>\nResponsabilit\u00e9<\/h2>\n<p>La CEO dit \u00e9galement ne pas \u00eatre oppos\u00e9e \u00e0 une \u00e9ventuelle taxe environnementale du prochain gouvernement : \u00ab Nous pensons qu\u2019un prix sur le carbone est un important levier. Une taxe sur le CO2 est la meilleure mani\u00e8re de confronter les pollueurs \u00e0 leurs responsabilit\u00e9s \u00bb estime-t-elle.<\/p>\n<p>\nEn outre, Souied souligne la responsabilit\u00e9 de grandes entreprises comme Unilever de faire bouger les choses : selon elle, ces entreprises n\u2019ont pas d\u2019autre choix que d\u2019opter pour un mod\u00e8le durable et doivent changer pour survivre. \u00ab Seules les entreprises responsables ont un avenir. Nos collaborateurs, les consommateurs et les actionnaires nous jugeront l\u00e0-dessus.
