De luxehuizen zijn na jaren van groei op zoek naar een nieuwe strategie, maar worstelen met hun positionering: welke klanten willen ze het liefst bereiken?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Luxe ten tijde van &#8220;dupe culture&#8221;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Het probleem: in een &#8220;delicate conjunctuur&#8221;, zoals LVMH-magnaat Bernard Arnault het noemt, houdt de grote massa de vinger op de knip. Behalve de meest vermogenden (de <em>VIC&#8217;s<\/em> of <em>Very Important Customers<\/em>) besparen consumenten op luxe-aankopen. Dat is zeker het geval voor de vele &#8220;aspirationele&#8221; shoppers, pakweg de middenklasse die een Vuitton-handtas of een Herm\u00e8s-riem combineert met een Zara-broek. Ze kopen vaak luxeproducten als belofte van opwaartse sociale mobiliteit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aspirationele shoppers zijn vaak jongere klanten die gevoelig zijn voor sociale media, en laat daar ook net &#8220;dupe culture&#8221; floreren. Naast tweedehands is namaak of imitaties onder de noemer &#8220;dupes&#8221; geen taboe meer. Integendeel: 41% van de modeshoppers koopt volgens McKinsey in tweedehandswinkels en bijna \u00e9\u00e9n op de drie volwassenen in de Verenigde Staten <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/mode\/zilver-en-nep-zijn-het-nieuwe-goud-dit-wordt-fashion-in-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\">geeft toe al bewust namaakversies te hebben gekocht<\/a> van premium- of luxeproducten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De val van &#8220;demure fall&#8221;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In navolging van de \u201cdemure fall\u201d-trend op sociale media, maar ook in een poging om weer meer vermogende klanten aan te trekken, zette onder andere Versace daarom sterker in op zogezegde \u201cquiet luxury\u201d. Net als veel andere luxemerken wilde het label zich zo hoger in de markt zetten. Aangezien er bij aspirationele luxeconsumenten minder te rapen valt, gaan modehuizen weer voor mature klanten. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vijftigplussers zijn bijvoorbeeld goed voor\u00a072% van het vermogen in de Verenigde Staten en 48% van de groei. Om hen te heroveren, lanceerden merken van <strong>Gucci<\/strong>\u00a0tot <strong>Burberry<\/strong> herstelplannen met <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/mode\/burberry-in-vrije-val-ceo-presenteert-herstelplan\/\" target=\"_blank\">weer meer klassieke collecties<\/a>\u00a0en tijdloze ontwerpen. Ze wezen daarbij naar <strong>Chanel<\/strong>\u00a0en\u00a0<strong>Herm\u00e8s<\/strong>, die met hun klassieke koers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/mode\/hermes-zwemt-tegen-de-stroom-in\/\" target=\"_blank\">resoluut stroomopwaarts blijven varen<\/a> in woelige wateren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Kiezen voor grijs of voor fluo?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Wie Versace zegt, zegt echter felle kleuren en eclectische prints. Het merk wordt nog steeds geassocieerd met flamboyante oprichter Gianni Versace en Italiaanse zwier. Klanten verwachten dus geen sobere en ingetogen ontwerpen. Hoewel de meest vermogende klanten blij waren, verloor het label een deel van zijn kenmerkende uitgesproken esthetiek &#8211; en heel wat van zijn klantengroepen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Met dezelfde redenering verminderde Versace het aantal instapmodellen in het assortiment, maar dat bekocht het merk met lagere verkoopvolumes. Ook de keuze om minder kortingen te geven, was geen succes. Het merk leed vorig kwartaal een <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/mode\/versace-moeder-in-de-problemen-door-strategische-fouten\/\" target=\"_blank\">omzetverlies van&nbsp;15% tot 193&nbsp;miljoen dollar<\/a> (180&nbsp;miljoen euro).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De ideale balans zit in je DNA<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Volgend boekjaar belooft CEO Idol een \u201cideale balans\u201d te zoeken tussen elegantie en speelsheid met een groter aanbod aan producten, zodat er weer voor elk wat wils is \u2013 \u00f3\u00f3k voor de pas nog zo verguisde aspirationele luxeklanten. Versace laat zien hoe modehuizen in een spagaat zitten waar ze maar moeilijk uit komen: moeten ze voor sober en de rijkste consumenten gaan, of voor \u2018fun\u2019 en een breed publiek?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vertrekken vanuit je eigen DNA blijkt nog altijd de sleutel. Versace is geen Burberry en moet dat nooit ambi\u00ebren, net zo min als Herm\u00e8s <strong>Balenciaga<\/strong>-gewijs een <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/mode\/balenciaga-makes-virtual-clothes-fortnite\/\" target=\"_blank\">virtuele collectie voor Fortnite-gamers<\/a> zou willen maken.
