Volgens nieuw onderzoek van McKinsey komt het aan op vier gemeenschappelijke kenmerken, waaronder een hoog aandeel huismerken en lage prijzen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sterke discounters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Het onderzoeksbureau onderzocht 127&nbsp;supermarktketens in elf Europese landen om na te gaan wat de \u201cgroeikampioenen\u201d van de afgelopen vijf jaar gemeen hadden. 31% van de onderzochte retailers hadden over deze periode marktaandeel gewonnen en een meer dan marktconforme <em>like-for-like<\/em> omzetgroei getoond. Zij waren meestal 35&nbsp;tot&nbsp;50% groter en genereerden een EBITDA die 0,8&nbsp;procentpunt hoger was dan die van andere foodretailers. Ze behaalden ook twee keer de omzetgroei en vijf keer de omzetproductiviteitsgroei van andere kruideniers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Onder die winnaars zijn er opvallend meer discounters (41% van alle discounters) dan supermarkten en hypermarkten (28%). Maar wat maakt deze supermarktgroepen succesvoller dan andere? Uit meer dan dertig kenmerken in de analyse kwamen er vier naar voren die \u00e9cht het verschil maakten, blijkt uit het nieuwe rapport The State of Grocery Retail 2025 dat McKinsey en EuroCommerce zopas publiceerden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Een hoog aandeel huismerken<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Supermarkten en hypermarkten met een bovengemiddeld omzetaandeel voor huismerken hebben 2,8&nbsp;keer meer kans om een groeikampioen te zijn dan andere. Groeikampioenen in de steekproef van McKinsey genereren 50&nbsp;tot&nbsp;90% van hun omzet met huismerken, en ze hebben meestal een portfolio van meerdere huismerken per categorie.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Een aangename winkelervaring<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Foodretailers die een als prettig ervaren winkelbeleving bieden, hebben 2,4&nbsp;keer meer kans om een groeikampioen te zijn dan anderen. \u201cVriendelijk en behulpzaam winkelpersoneel\u201d is volgens de analyse een belangrijke factor bij het cre\u00ebren van zo\u2019n prettige ervaring voor consumenten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Een uitstekende productkwaliteit<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Supermarkten die een hoge kwaliteit van huismerken en verse producten bieden, hebben 1,6&nbsp;keer meer kans om een groeikampioen te zijn dan anderen. Van de speler die hoog scoren voor de kwaliteit van hun huismerken, presteert 79%&nbsp;ook hoog met betrekking tot de kwaliteit van verse producten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">4. Laagste prijzen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Foodretailers die in het topkwartiel zitten voor \u201claagste prijzen\u201d hebben 1,5&nbsp;keer meer kans om groeikampioen te zijn dan anderen. Sterk presterende supermarkten en hypermarkten evenaren discounters op prijs en kwaliteit voor meer dan&nbsp;80% van de omzet van de discounters &#8211; meestal meer dan 2.000&nbsp;producten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Minstens even interessant is het om te leren welke kenmerken de kans op succes de afgelopen vijf jaar n\u00ed\u00e9t hebben vergroot.
