Opvallend: de grootste drie spelers zijn helemaal geen e-commercebedrijven&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">De groei is terug<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Welke Europese retailers verkopen het meest over de grenzen heen? Hoe groot is die gezamenlijke onlinemarkt? Cross-Border Commerce Europe publiceerde zijn jaarlijkse ranglijst voor de zevende keer, en wat blijkt: na een dip in&nbsp;2023 schoot de gezamenlijke omzet van grootste 500&nbsp;spelers in&nbsp;2024 met&nbsp;39%&nbsp;omhoog naar 69,5&nbsp;miljard euro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De totale Europese markt voor online internationale verkopen vertegenwoordigde vorig jaar 275,6&nbsp;miljard euro, goed voor 36% van de volledige e-commercemarkt. Twee derde van alle online verkoop gaat dus niet over een landsgrens heen. De categorie mode, juwelen en luxe voert de lijst aan met een internationaal marktaandeel van 43%, terwijl huis-, tuin- en doe-het-zelfartikelen goed zijn voor amper 9%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Opmars van merkfabrikanten<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De Zweedse woonwinkelreus <strong>Ikea<\/strong> prijkt opnieuw bovenaan de ranglijst en realiseerde een grensoverschrijdende omzet van 5,2 miljard euro. <strong>Lidl<\/strong> en <strong>H&amp;M<\/strong> volgen op de tweede en derde plaats: opvallend, want Lidl heeft helemaal geen uitgesproken e-commerce-imago. Samen genereert de top&nbsp;10 ongeveer&nbsp;20% van de totale omzet binnen de top&nbsp;500. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De volledige top 10 bleef ongewijzigd ten opzichte van 2023:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"835\" height=\"700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/top_500_cross_border_eu_2024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-117133\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/top_500_cross_border_eu_2024.jpg 835w, https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/top_500_cross_border_eu_2024-300x251.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/top_500_cross_border_eu_2024-768x644.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 835px) 100vw, 835px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Toch volgt pas op de vierde plaats een &#8220;online pure player&#8221;: <strong>Zalando<\/strong>. Binnen de ranglijst verschuift het zwaartepunt van pure online spelers naar merkfabrikanten die rechtstreeks aan consumenten verkopen, zoals Lego, Nespresso, Adidas en Philips.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AI en tweedehands hervormen sector<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Naast cijfers schenkt het rapport aandacht aan twee structurele trends: artifici\u00eble intelligentie en recommerce. AI bepaalt steeds meer het ritme in de sector. \u201cAI is niet alleen een hulpmiddel van de toekomst geworden, maar een dagelijkse noodzaak voor retailers die concurrerend willen blijven in een steeds complexere en digitalere markt,\u201d luidt het in het rapport. Bedrijven zetten AI in voor gepersonaliseerde marketing, voorraadbeheer, klantenservice en productontwikkeling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tegelijk ontwikkelt tweedehands (&#8220;recommerce&#8221;) zich tot een volwaardig marktsegment, gedreven door duurzaamheid, inflatiedruk en technologische innovatie. In 2023\/24 bedroeg de wereldwijde waarde van tweedehandsgoederen 200&nbsp;miljard dollar (bijna 190&nbsp;miljard euro). De modesector leverde binnen dit segment 7&nbsp;miljard euro aan EU-bbp op en 150.000&nbsp;banen.
