Daarbij komt een oude douaneregel in beeld, ook al brengt die de nodige uitdagingen en risico\u2019s met zich mee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Slechts 3% stijging van de winkelprijs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Nu de Verenigde Staten onder president Donald Trump een invoertarief van 15% instellen op goederen uit de Europese Unie, vrezen heel wat Europese merken voor hun winstmarges. Zomaar prijsverhogingen doorvoeren is immers geen evidentie, omdat Amerikaanse consumenten na jaren van inflatie gevoelig zijn voor elke prijsstijging. Daarom grijpen steeds meer mode- en cosmeticamerken terug op de zogenoemde &#8220;First Sale&#8221;-regel, een clausule in het Amerikaanse douanerecht waarmee importeurs onder strikte voorwaarden de invoerrechten kunnen laten berekenen over de fabriekswaarde van een product, en niet over de uiteindelijke verkoopprijs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vorige week bevestigde <strong>L&#8217;Or\u00e9al<\/strong>-topman Nicolas Hieronimus tegenover Reuters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/eu-brands-turn-obscure-customs-clause-soften-blow-trumps-tariffs-2025-08-01\/\">dat het Franse cosmeticabedrijf deze mogelijkheid bekijkt<\/a>, zonder verdere details te geven over de timing. Ook Italiaanse luxemerken als <strong>Golden Goose<\/strong>, <strong>Moncler<\/strong> en <strong>Ferragamo<\/strong> zien kansen, aangezien de productieprijs volgens hen ongeveer de helft bedraagt van de Amerikaanse importwaarde. &#8220;In onze situatie leveren de 15% tarieven waarschijnlijk slechts een 3% stijging van de winkelprijs op,&#8221; becijfert Golden Goose-CEO Silvio Campara. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hoewel kledingproducenten de regeling al langer kennen, raakten velen het alternatief uit het oog in tijden van historisch lage tarieven. Het toepassen van deze regeling vereist wel een feilloze administratie en een waterdichte bevoorradingsketen. Fouten kunnen immers leiden tot zware boetes.
