Het bedrijf kan nog wel rekenen op sterke internationale groei. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dieperliggende problemen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>In Noord-Amerika viel de groei van Lululemon in het tweede kwartaal zo goed als stil: de omzet steeg slechts&nbsp;1%, de vergelijkbare omzet daalde zelfs met&nbsp;4%. Internationaal compenseerde de retailer dat ruim, met een stijging van de netto-omzet met&nbsp;22% en vergelijkbare omzet met&nbsp;15%. Dat leidde tot een omzetstijging met&nbsp;7% tot 2,5&nbsp;miljard dollar (ongeveer 2,3&nbsp;miljard euro). Daarmee is McDonald echter niet tevreden: hij wijst op    dieperliggende problemen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Wij zijn te voorspelbaar geworden en hebben kansen gemist om nieuwe trends te cre\u00ebren&#8221;, zegt hij. &#8220;Tegelijkertijd zien wij verschuivingen binnen de sector.&#8221; Onder andere door toegenomen concurrentie verloor Lululemon marktaandeel in de bredere Amerikaanse <em>athleisure<\/em>-markt, die 3,4%&nbsp;groeide. Uit een analyse van GlobalData blijkt dat ook relatief loyale Lululemon-kopers hun repertoire verbreden en steeds meer bereid zijn om alternatieve merken te proberen. &#8220;De harde waarheid is dat Lululemon niet langer de uitdager is; het is nu het merk waar andere, jongere labels naar kijken om te jagen en marktaandeel van af te pakken.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tegenwind door tarieven<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>De focus van Lululemon gaat daarom naar meer nieuwe stijlen en een versneld ontwerptraject. Creatief directeur Jonathan Cheung, die vorig jaar startte, stelde een team met nieuw ontwerptalent samen om het assortiment nieuw leven in te blazen. Het merk wil het aandeel nieuwe stijlen tegen komende lente optrekken tot 35% van het totale aanbod, tegenover 23% nu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tegelijkertijd kampt Lululemon met tegenwind door tarieven, die zijn verergerd sinds het einde van de de-minimisvrijstelling.
