Het illustreert hoe groot de druk is op de frisdranksector.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<h2>Minder calorie\u00ebn<\/h2>\n<p>Tegen 2025 moet twee derden van het drankenaanbod van PepsiCo nog maximaal honderd calorie\u00ebn per blikje bevatten. PepsiCo zal meer nadruk leggen op drankjes met een laag caloriegehalte, maar tegelijk zal het concern ook in andere voedingsproducten het aandeel toegevoegde suikers, verzadigde vetten en zout reduceren. Dat voornemen kadert in een breder duurzaamheidsprogramma van het bedrijf. De doelstellingen zijn in lijn met de aanbevelingen van de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie WHO.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>PepsiCo is niet de eerste fabrikant die het caloriegehalte van frisdranken aanpakt: eerder al stelde <strong>Coca-Cola <\/strong>zich tot doel om tegen 2020 het suikergehalte in het drankenportfolio met minstens 10% te verlagen ten opzichte van 2012. Investeringen in laagcalorische dranken als Coca-Cola zero sugar, Finley of Chaudfontaine Fusion moeten daartoe bijdragen. Ook zet de fabrikant in op kleinere verpakkingen om de suikerinname te beperken.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Frisdrank geviseerd<\/h2>\n<p>Toeval is dat niet, want in Westerse landen daalt de verkoop van suikerhoudende softdrinks gevoelig. Steeds meer consumenten willen suiker mijden en de frisdranksector wordt nu eenmaal geviseerd door di\u00ebtisten en overheden die de obesitasproblematiek ter harte nemen. Daarin worden ze gesteund door diezelfde Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie, die onlangs nog onomwonden \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/wereldgezondheidsorganisatie-pleit-voor-suikertaks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">en niet voor het eerst <\/a>\u2013 pleitte voor de invoering van een gezondheidstaks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Belgi\u00eb heeft al zo\u2019n taks, hoewel die zelfs frisdranken treft die helemaal geen suiker of calorie\u00ebn bevatten. Gelijkaardige taksen zien we intussen in Frankrijk en binnenkort in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Mexico is wellicht het bekendste voorbeeld: daar leidde de invoering van een suikertaks tot een significante daling van het frisdrankverbruik, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/food\/gezondheidstaks-op-voeding-werkt-%E2%80%93-maar-niet-echt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">al blijft het effect op de volksgezondheid onduidelijk<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Gezondheidsplan<\/h2>\n<p>De druk op de frisdranksector is dus groot. Nochtans vertegenwoordigen frisdranken in ons land slechts 3,8% van de totale energie-inname door de consumenten, en 8,5% van de suikerinname &#8211; althans volgens de VIFW, de sectorvereniging van de Belgische water- en frisdrankindustrie. De categorie heeft met andere woorden de perceptie tegen en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/food\/%E2%80%9Cfrisdranken-zijn-een-makkelijk-doelwit%E2%80%9D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">voelt zich een makkelijk doelwit<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ze hebben een punt, afgaande op recent onderzoek van Euromonitor, dat de inname van calorie\u00ebn uit frisdranken en alcoholische dranken vergeleek in 24 landen. Blijkt dat in heel wat landen<a href=\"http:\/\/www.foodnavigator.com\/Trends\/Sugar-salt-and-fat-reduction\/Calorie-consumption-alcoholic-drinks-and-soft-drinks-Euromonitor\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> de calorie-inname uit alcohol hoger is dan die uit frisdrank<\/a>: Zuid-Korea is kampioen met 167,9 calorie\u00ebn per capita uit alcohol, tegenover 44,2 calorie\u00ebn uit frisdrank.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cijfers voor Belgi\u00eb konden we niet achterhalen, maar dat \u00e9\u00e9n categorie met alle zonden beladen wordt, lijkt onhoudbaar. Een globaal gezondheidsplan verdient daarom alle kansen. In Belgi\u00eb neemt de voedingssector het voortouw met het Convenant Evenwichtige Voeding.
