Wat valt daar aan te doen?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<h2>Prijsgevoelig<\/h2>\n<p>58% van de Belgische consumenten zegt geobsedeerd te zijn door promoties, terwijl 51% zichzelf als erg prijsgevoelig omschrijft. Deze shoppers kennen de prijzen van \u2018hun\u2019 producten en ze merken prijswijzigingen op. 41% van de Belgen zegt actief op zoek te zijn naar producten in de aanbieding, om die dan ook te kopen.<\/p>\n<p>\nEr zijn verschillende verklaringen voor dit gedrag, stelt onderzoeksbureau Nielsen: Belgi\u00eb wordt geconfronteerd met een stijgende inflatie, tot 1,8% in oktober van dit jaar. Dat is relatief hoog in vergelijking met onze buurlanden Frankrijk (+0,4%), Luxemburg (+0,4%), Duitsland (+0,8%) en Nederland (+0,1%). Volgens Nielsens <em>Q3 2016 Consumer Confidence Index<\/em>, heeft 54% van de Belgische respondenten recent zijn koopgedrag aangepast om meer te besparen\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Perfecte storm<\/h2>\n<p>Verschillende factoren dragen bij tot de promotiegevoeligheid van consumenten: het feit dat de harddiscount hier een zekere maturiteit heeft bereikt, het opduiken van nieuwe concurrenten (low end retailers), de fusie tussen Ahold en Delhaize, &#8230;: de ingredi\u00ebnten voor een \u2018perfecte storm\u2019. Prijsperceptie blijft hoe dan ook een cruciale &#8217;traffic driver&#8217; voor Belgische retailers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>De logica schrijft voor dat fabrikanten hun promoties moeten opdrijven, en dat de shoppers dan meer producten zullen kopen. Maar is dat wel zo? Nee, zegt Nielsen: hoewel prijspromoties in FMCG met 3,5% gestegen zijn het afgelopen jaar, had die promotionele activiteit geen positieve impact op de verkoopvolumes. Meer zelfs, het rendement van de promotionele investeringen is in Belgi\u00eb lager dan in onze buurlanden: slechts 30% van de promoties voegt waarde toe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Kortingen worden de norm<\/h2>\n<p>Eerder al wees onderzoek van Nielsen uit dat in 2015 wel 82% van de promotionele volumes verkocht werd met kortingen tot 20%. Met dat niveau van prijskortingen veeg je de prijsinflatie die Belgi\u00eb de afgelopen tien jaar gekend heeft (19,9% volgens de gezondheidsindex 2005-2015) helemaal uit. Deze kortingen worden als normaal beschouwd: de shopper verwacht ze, en ze leiden niet langer tot bijkomende volumes of omzet.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\nHet opdrijven van promoties leidt dus niet tot groei, maar de promotionele activiteit gewoon afbouwen is evenmin een optie. Wat Nielsen dan wel adviseert? Stem je promotieplannen af op je concurrentieomgeving, vind het evenwicht tussen promotiedruk en \u2018<em>everyday fair price<\/em>\u2019, probeer je budgetten effici\u00ebnter te benutten, investeer in innovatie en in het cre\u00ebren van een grotere vraag.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/sites\/default\/files\/spacer.png\" style=\"width: 650px;height: 471px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>De promotiedruk blijft stijgen in Belgi\u00eb, maar het rendement van die promoties is gevoelig lager dan in onze buurlanden.
