Hoe moeten retailers en fabrikanten reageren?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<h2>Prikkelende stellingen<\/h2>\n<p>Hoe zullen consumenten in de toekomst hun voeding kopen? Online of in de winkel? In grotere of kleinere winkels? Om mee te nemen of om meteen ter plaatse op te eten? Op basis van deze en andere vragen publiceerden IGD en The Consumer Goods Forum zopas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.igd.com\/research\/retail\/cgf-evolution-of-the-physical-store\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">een razend interessante studie<\/a> over de toekomst van de fysieke voedingswinkel. We distilleren zeven prikkelende stellingen uit het rapport.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>1. De fysieke winkel overleeft<\/h2>\n<p>Ondanks de groei van e-commerce zullen shoppers uiteenlopende redenen blijven hebben om winkels te bezoeken: voor aanvullende boodschappen, d\u00e9pannage-aankopen, of omdat ze graag winkelen. Ze houden ervan producten te kunnen zien, ruiken en aanraken, en er is de onmiddellijke voldoening wanneer je iets meteen kunt meenemen. Het komt er voor retailers op aan om voldoende aandacht te hebben voor emotionele elementen, en een unieke beleving te bieden.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>2. Supermarkten pakken sociale rol weer op<\/h2>\n<p>Retailers zullen meer dan ooit op de shopper focussen en beter inspelen op individuele, lokale noden dankzij een doorgedreven gebruik van data. Als gevolg van demografische evoluties kan de sociale functie van de winkel weer belangrijker worden: hulp en aandacht voor oudere shoppers, een rol spelen in de plaatselijke gemeenschap, informatie en advies bieden\u2026\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>3. Minder promoties<\/h2>\n<p>Ook gaan retailers het aantal promoties en de frequentie ervan terugdringen, voorspelt IGD. De impact van promoties neemt immers nu al af, als gevolg van de grotere prijstransparantie online en de groei van (online) abonnementsmodellen. Een lager en stabiel prijsniveau wordt belangrijker: Brits onderzoek wijst uit dat 63% van de shoppers een \u2018everyday low price\u2019 beleid verkiest. Bovendien zorgt de terugval van het aantal promoties voor een grotere effici\u00ebntie in de bevoorradingsketen.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>4. Meer dienstverlening<\/h2>\n<p>Dienstverlening wordt dan ook de belangrijkste onderscheidende factor voor retailers. Als shoppers hun bulkaankopen online plaatsen, dan hebben ze in de winkel immers meer tijd te besteden aan de overblijvende categorie\u00ebn. Medewerkers zullen klanten inspireren en informeren. Ook ziet IGD muziek in evenementen die rekening houden met lokale tradities of die inspelen op het waardenpatroon van de plaatselijke shoppers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>5. Minder en kleinere winkels<\/h2>\n<p>Retailers zullen minder en kleinere winkels nodig hebben, gezien het toenemend belang van online. Winkels hoeven minder voorraad te stockeren. In een omnichannelstrategie zijn hogere investeringen nodig in meer kanalen, waardoor er minder investeringsruimte is voor vastgoed. Wel verbouwt men bestaande winkels. Het is niet langer verdedigbaar om verlieslatende winkels open te houden.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>6. Kansen voor specialisten<\/h2>\n<p>IGD verwacht dat er minder globale retailers zullen overblijven, en dat er weer meer kansen komen voor specialisten. Grote retailers zullen almaar meer moeten focussen op kosten en winstgevendheid. Dat kan hen ertoe brengen om zich te concentreren op markten waar ze een leidende positie innemen, en zich elders terug te trekken. Op lokaal niveau kan de concurrentie toenemen door de opkomst van nichespelers en specialisten die inspelen op specifieke behoeften. Dat betekent meer keuze voor consumenten, en een grotere versnippering voor leveranciers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>7. Robots nemen het over<\/h2>\n<p>Robotisering, automatisering en kunstmatige intelligentie zullen de supermarkt effici\u00ebnter maken. Het zal erop aankomen om het juiste evenwicht te vinden tussen automatisering en menselijke interactie. Robotisering kan leiden tot een betere en effici\u00ebntere executie van routinetaken in de winkel, zodat medewerkers zich kunnen toeleggen op klantenservice en interactie.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>En wat nu?\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Het rapport formuleert enkele aanbevelingen voor retailers en hun leveranciers, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.igd.com\/Portals\/0\/Downloads\/Infographics\/Infographic_Evolution-of-the-physical-store.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in deze leuke infografiek<\/a>. Investeren in een beter begrip van de shopper, betere data en betere medewerkers worden essentieel. De bevoorradingsketen moet effici\u00ebnter, winkelconcepten moeten flexibeler en assortimenten moeten voortdurend worden aangepast.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Vanuit klantenstandpunt is het aan te raden om elke drempel, elke kans op frictie weg te nemen en een naadloze winkelervaring te bieden. Het hele afrekenproces aan de check-out bijvoorbeeld kan op de schop.
