Toch krijgt het aandeel vandaag een flinke klets om de oren: beleggers reageren sceptisch op de nieuwe strategie die topman Marco Gobbetti aankondigt.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<h2>1,3 miljard euro omzet<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cIk ben tevreden over onze resultaten in dit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.burberryplc.com\/en\/investors\/results-reports.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">halfjaar met sterke tweecijferige winstgroei<\/a>. Consumenten reageerden positief op onze mode en nieuwigheden, en vooral dan op onze regenkleding en lederwaren. De digitale inkomsten groeiden in alle regio\u2019s, gedreven door mobiel verkeer, terwijl de groei het sterkst was in onze winkels in <em>Asia Pacific<\/em>\u201d, aldus CEO Gobbetti.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>De Britse modegroep, die vorige week het <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/mode\/creatief-directeur-christopher-bailey-verlaat-burberry\">nakende afscheid van creatief directeur Christopher Bailey<\/a> bekendmaakte, kan inderdaad terugblikken op een sterk eerste halfjaar: de omzet steeg met 9% tot 1,2 miljard pond (omgerekend zo\u2019n 1,3 miljard euro) en de operationele winst met liefst 28% tot 185 miljoen pond (of circa 200 miljoen euro).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Meer dan ooit \u2018luxespeler\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Samen met de halfjaarresultaten kondigde topman Gobbetti ook een nieuwe strategie aan, die meer dan ooit rond \u2018luxe\u2019 zal draaien. \u201cNu is de tijd rijp om de <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.euroland.com\/tools\/PressReleases\/GetPressRelease\/?ID=3395207&amp;lang=en-GB&amp;companycode=services\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">volgende stap van Burberry\u2019s transformatie<\/a> te implementeren. Door onze producten en klantenervaring te vernieuwen bevestigen we onze positie in de luxemarkt en spelen we mee in het meest bevredigende en langdurige segment van de markt,\u201d aldus de topman.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Volgens de strategie-update\u00a0wil Burberry zijn gamma voort uitbreiden met luxe lederwaren en accessoires om de klant een complete look\u00a0te bieden. In zijn communicatie wil Burberry meer dan ooit de digitale kaart trekken en zijn producten centraal stellen. Daarnaast wil Gobbetti het merk opnieuw exclusiever positioneren in de markt, wat betekent dat groothandelaars en retailers die niet binnen dat luxeplaatje passen \u201cgerationaliseerd\u201d zullen worden, te beginnen in de VS.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Extra marketinginspanningen en investeringen in de modernisering van bestaande winkels kosten natuurlijk geld. Alleen al in 2019 voorziet de topman een herstructureringslast van 15 miljoen pond (17 miljoen euro): voor 2019 en 2020 mikt Burberry dan ook op een \u201cstabiele omzet en operationele winstmarge\u201d. En als er iets is dat beleggers niet graag horen, dan is het dat wel: zij stuurden het aandeel vanochtend tot 14% lager.
