Deze acties zorgen inderdaad voor bijzonder hoge bijkomende verkopen, maar ze kosten de merkfabrikanten ook handenvol geld. Dat zegt Business Analyst David Geuten van HighCo DATA, een bedrijf dat gespecialiseerd is in promotionele marketing. Hij bracht de effecten van volume-acties in kaart voor een niet nader genoemde fabrikant, over een periode van \u00e9\u00e9n jaar.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bij volumepromoties van het type \u20182de aan halve prijs\u2019 stegen de verkochte volumes met 25 tot 30%. In het geval van promoties \u20182+1 gratis\u2019 ging de verkoop er zelfs met 77% tot 82% op vooruit. Spectaculaire cijfers, maar er is een keerzijde: tijdens de volumepromoties namen de marges van de fabrikant een diepe duik (een halvering, met name) terwijl de marges van de retailer op peil bleven.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Inzicht in koopgedrag<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cVoor retailers is zo\u2019n promotie enkel goed nieuws. De actie vergt amper bijkomende handling, ze weegt niet op de marges en ze trekt meer trafiek naar de winkels\u201d, aldus Geuten. Voor fabrikanten is het plaatje minder rooskleurig:\u00a0ze leveren marge in, terwijl de promotie geen inzichten oplevert in het koopgedrag van shoppers.\u00a0Ter vergelijking berekende HighCo DATA de effecten van een promotie met een coupon op de verpakking: daarbij stegen de verkochte volumes\u00a0met 40%, en tegelijk bleven de marges voor de fabrikant relatief stabiel. Bovendien levert zo\u2019n couponactie w\u00e9l een gedetailleerde rapportering op met interessante marketingdata.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Kortom: \u201cFabrikanten denken best goed na waar ze hun marketingbudgetten willen besteden. Het aandeel van volumepromoties stijgt op vraag van de retailers, maar die acties genereren weinig waarde voor de merken. Andere tools, zoals coupons, cashbacks of wedstrijden, leveren zowel extra volumes als bruikbare data op, terwijl ze de marges niet volledig opeten.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Shopper is geen voorstander<\/h2>\n<p>Tot slot: ook consumenten tonen zich kritisch over volumepromoties. Ze zijn immers \u2018verplicht\u2019 om grote hoeveelheden aan te kopen, terwijl voedingswaren een beperkte houdbaarheid hebben en dus mogelijk op de afvalhoop belanden. In september publiceerde Het Nieuwsblad nog een open brief van een dame die haar ongenoegen uitte over de toename van 1+1 gratis acties: als alleenstaande heeft zij immers geen baat bij dubbele producten, en ontvangt ze liever een directe korting.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Bovendien verandert het winkelgedrag: consumenten gaan vaker shoppen (twee tot drie keer per week in verschillende supermarkten), wensen \u2018verser\u2019 te kopen en willen zich niet meer vastpinnen op een wekelijkse menuplanning. Cijfers van HighCo DATA bevestigen deze trends: de redemptie op een coupon van 1 euro bij aankoop van twee producten is lager dan een korting van 0.40 euro bij aankoop van 1 product \u2013 een bewijs dat zelfs bij een hogere korting de consument geen voorstander is van \u2018multibuy\u2019 aanbiedingen.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/sites\/default\/files\/HighCo_Grafiek.JPG\" style=\"width: 800px;height: 374px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Volumepromoties snijden diep in de marges van merkfabrikanten, maar niet in die van retailers, berekent HighCo DATA.
