H&M, Mango en Gap<\/h2>\n

Wantoestanden in Aziatische textielfabrieken<\/a>, vaak met desastreuze en dodelijke gevolgen, zorgden de voorbije jaren voor heel wat ophef en beloften rond betere arbeidsomstandigheden voor textielwerkers in onder meer Pakistan en Bangladesh. Toch zijn\u00a0armoede en uitbuiting nog steeds een dagelijkse realiteit<\/a>, vooral voor naaisters die buiten de fabrieksmuren – vaak in onderaanneming – kleding maken.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/p>\n

Voor minder dan twintig euro per maand werken thuisnaaisters in Pakistan zeven dagen op zeven, zonder enige sociale bescherming. Hun opdrachtgevers: niet de fabriekseigenaren, maar onderaannemers die onder meer in opdracht van grote internationale merken naaigoed uitbesteden aan thuiswerkers, zo verzekert secretaris-generaal Zehra Akhan van de Federatie van Thuiswerkende Vrouwen. Ook de Internationale Arbeids-organisatie ILO bevestigde vorig jaar dat kleding met logo’s van onder meer Cotton Belt<\/strong>, H&M<\/strong>, Mango <\/strong>en Gap <\/strong>is teruggevonden in illegale textielfabriekjes.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Eerder dit jaar beslisten een aantal grote Europese kledingmerken, waaronder ook H&M, om de\u00a0industrietop in Bangladesh niet bij te wonen uit protest tegen de slechte werkomstandigheden<\/a>\u00a0in het land.
