De margemix verbeteren, zich differenti\u00ebren van de concurrentie en de klantentrouw verhogen.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Hogere verkoopprijzen<\/h2>\n<p>Het afgelopen decennium hebben de harddiscounters een enorme druk gezet op de prijzen van standaard huismerken in heel Europa. Mainstream foodretailers zagen zich verplicht om hun verkoopprijzen te verlagen, wat heeft geleid tot krimpende marges. Om dat verlies te compenseren, passen ze hun huismerkstrategie\u00ebn aan. Zowat alle Europese retailers investeren nu volop in huismerken met toegevoegde waarde (zogenaamde \u2018<em>value added private labels<\/em>\u2019 of VAPL\u2019s): denk aan premium, biologische, \u2018free from\u2019, fairtrade, ecologische of regionale assortimenten. Die blijken inderdaad een sterk wapen in de strijd om een betere marktpositie,\u00a0concludeert IPLC (International Private Label Consult) na een onderzoek bij 25 retailers in 9 landen. Ook <strong>Colruyt<\/strong>, <strong>Delhaize<\/strong>, <strong>Carrefour<\/strong>, <strong>Jumbo<\/strong> en <strong>Albert Heijn<\/strong> werden in de studie opgenomen.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>De gemiddelde verkoopprijzen van premiumhuismerken zijn flink hoger dan die van de standaardhuismerkproducten: de prijsindex bedraagt in Belgi\u00eb bijvoorbeeld 160 voor ecologische huismerken en 297 voor additievenvrije producten (in vergelijking met standaard huismerken), in Nederland is dat respectievelijk 171 en 295. Franse retailers hanteren zelfs een prijsindex van 356 voor \u2018<em>free from<\/em>\u2019 producten onder private label. IPLC wijst erop dat de productie- en marketingkosten voor deze producten niet significant hoger hoeven te liggen: dat levert retailers dus betere marges op. Een mogelijk kannibalisatie-effect op de standaard huismerken is enkel positief, omdat daardoor de winstgevendheid van de categorie zal stijgen. Sowieso zijn mainstream retailers beter geplaatst dan discounters om dit type huismerken te introduceren, aangezien ze een ruimer assortiment voeren.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Sociale verantwoordelijkheid<\/h2>\n<p>De onderzoekers zien nog meer voordelen. Consumenten hechten vandaag groot belang aan initiatieven inzake ecologie, dierenwelzijn, regionale producten of voedselintoleranties. Door huismerken te lanceren die inspelen op deze thema\u2019s, tonen retailers dat ze hun sociale verantwoordelijkheid oppakken en dat ze duurzaamheid ernstig nemen. Dat kan helpen om de klantentrouw te verhogen.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>De strategie biedt bovendien nieuwe kansen aan huismerkleveranciers:\u00a0retailers zijn op zoek naar fabrikanten die op dit vlak innovatie weten te brengen. Producenten die retailers proactief ondersteunen bij de uitbouw van deze assortimenten en het stimuleren van categoriegroei, weten de handelsrelaties met hun retailklanten te verdiepen.
