Dat wijst op een interessante markt. Ook in Belgi\u00eb zien we groei, al bedraagt de penetratie voorlopig slechts 9%. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Europese pionier<\/h2>\n<p>De interesse van consumenten om naast bijvoorbeeld kledij ook de wekelijkse voedingsboodschappen online te kopen, is in Europa van eerder recente datum, zo blijkt uit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbs.nl\/en-gb\/news\/2018\/38\/netherlands-in-eu-top-5-online-shopping\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cijfers van CBS en Eurostat<\/a>. Pas vanaf 2006 kwam er enige beweging in de markt en vooral na 2013 groeide het aantal online foodshoppers significant. Dat gebeurt echter niet overal aan dezelfde snelheid: al die jaren waren de Britten de Europese voorloper op het vlak van e-commerce in food, maar vorig jaar werden ze ingehaald door Nederland. Daar koopt nu 29% van de bevolking wel eens voeding online, tegen 28% van de Britten. In Duitsland is dat nog 21%\u00a0en in Frankrijk 15%, maar Belgi\u00eb hinkt achterop met\u00a09%, wel nog altijd meer\u00a0dan bijvoorbeeld Itali\u00eb (3%).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Een verklaring voor deze verschillen is wellicht te zoeken aan de aanbodzijde: in het Verenigd Koninkrijk hebben de meeste grote foodretailers al sinds jaren een performant e-commerceaanbod met thuislevering en\/of goede afhaalpunten. Bovendien kent dat land een succesvolle \u2018pure player\u2019: <strong>Ocado<\/strong>, de Europese pionier onder de online supermarkten. Voor Britten is de drempel om online boodschappen te doen dus een stuk lager.<br \/>\n\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>\nMarktleider Colruyt<\/h2>\n<p>Dat geldt ook voor Nederland: niet alleen was <strong>Albert Heijn<\/strong> daar een voorloper online, ook is er de snelle expansie van <strong>Picnic<\/strong>: die pure player werkt enkel met een app en levert aan huis\u00a0met elektrische bestelwagentjes. Het bedrijf verovert stad na stad en <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/food\/picnic-slachtoffer-van-eigen-succes-meer-vraag-dan-capaciteit\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">kan de vraag nauwelijks bijhouden<\/a>. Nu breidt Picnic zijn actieterrein uit naar Duitsland en wordt er gespeculeerd over Belgi\u00eb. In Duitsland ging intussen <strong>Amazon Fresh<\/strong> van start en in Frankrijk kennen we al sinds jaren de &#8216;drives&#8217; (afhaalpunten) van de grote hypermarktketens.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In vergelijking daarmee is het online aanbod in Belgi\u00eb eerder beperkt. Marktleider is <strong>Colruyt<\/strong>, dat naar eigen zeggen afgelopen boekjaar een e-commerceomzet boekte van 370 miljoen euro. Het gros daarvan is afkomstig van Collect&amp;Go, dat 186 afhaalpunten heeft. Daarmee heeft de retailer een serieuze voorsprong op <strong>Delhaize<\/strong>, dat geen 50 miljoen euro online jaaromzet haalt, maar nu wel succes boekt met thuisbezorgen. Over de afhaalpunten van <strong>Carrefour<\/strong> zijn geen cijfers bekend. De enige \u2018pure player\u2019 in Belgi\u00eb, <strong>Wink.be<\/strong>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/food\/online-supermarkt-winkbe-stopt-ermee\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">moest eerder dit jaar de handdoek gooien<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Toch zien we in Belgi\u00eb een duidelijke toename van online-initiatieven, zowel bij grote retailers als kleinschalige spelers. Volgt de consument het groeiende aanbod? Op het <strong>RetailDetail Food Congress<\/strong> op 3 en 4 oktober brengen we een stand van zaken en presenteren we inspirerende cases.
