In de Verenigde Staten wil de fusiegroep ook groeien door acquisities.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Achterstand inlopen<\/h2>\n<p>Dinsdag ontving de retailer journalisten en financieel analisten in New York om zijn nieuwe strategie toe te lichten. In de groeiambities speelt e-commerce een sleutelrol: de onlineomzet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/food\/ahold-delhaize-gaat-online-omzet-verdubbelen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">moet tegen 2021 verdubbelen<\/a>. Om dat ambitieuze doel te bereiken, zet Ahold Delhaize onder andere in op robotisering, data-analyse en kleine, geautomatiseerde magazijnen die snelle leveringen vanuit winkelpunten mogelijk maken. In de VS komen er volgend jaar bovendien 600 afhaalpunten bij. Die investeringen zijn nodig om te concurreren met <strong>Amazon<\/strong>, <strong>Walmart<\/strong> en <strong>Kroger<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>De groep heeft online namelijk een achterstand in te lopen. Dat e-commerce op zich niet winstgevend is, vormt voor de topman momenteel geen bezwaar: aan De Tijd verduidelijkt hij dat je <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tijd.be\/ondernemen\/retail\/investering-e-commerce-zal-niet-ten-koste-van-winst-delhaize-gaan\/10069293.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">die activiteit niet ge\u00efsoleerd mag bekijken<\/a>. Webshops versterken de supermarkten,\u00a0en wie niet investeert in e-commerce, verliest klanten aan de concurrentie. Bovendien kan online w\u00e9l winstgevend zijn in dicht bevolkte grote steden. Aan CNBC verklaart Muller dat de toekomst van e-commerce ligt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/video\/2018\/11\/13\/ahold-delhaize-ceo-on-the-future-of-grocery-shopping.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in een mix van verschillende logistieke modellen<\/a>: same day delivery, next day delivery en\u00a0click &amp; collect&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Consolidatie in de VS<\/h2>\n<p>Ook in Europa schakelt de groep online een versnelling hoger: het distributiecentrum van <strong>bol.com<\/strong> breidt uit, <strong>Albert Heijn<\/strong> test een slim deurslot om boodschappen te leveren wanneer klanten niet thuis zijn, en in Belgi\u00eb moeten <strong>Delhaize<\/strong> en bol.com nauwer gaan samenwerken. Groeien wil Ahold Delhaize echter niet enkel online, maar ook met de fysieke winkels. De grootste Amerikaanse keten, <strong>Stop &amp; Shop<\/strong>, krijgt een grondige herpositionering waarbij alle winkels vernieuwd worden. In de VS wil de groep ook een drijvende rol spelen in een verdere consolidatie van de foodretailsector. Flink wat kleine \u00e9n grote foodretailers hebben het momenteel moeilijk, en Ahold Delhaize heeft geld. Overnames of fusies <a href=\"https:\/\/fd.nl\/ondernemen\/1278303\/ahold-ceo-wij-zijn-de-fusiepartner-onder-de-supermarkten\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">maken dan ook deel uit van het strijdplan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Muller ziet echter geen heil in een sanering van het aantal winkelmerken in de VS, waar Ahold Delhaize vandaag vijf verschillende uithangborden heeft. Foodretail is echter lokaal, volgens de CEO: \u201cHet is een misverstand te denken dat we zo een fortuin zouden kunnen besparen. Onze lokale merken staan dicht bij hun gemeenschap. Ze begrijpen de lokale noden.
