Het dankt vooral de Aziatische markt en het zogeheten lipstick-effect voor die groei. Ook 2019 wordt veelbelovend.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Honderden miljoenen Aziaten die zich verwennen<\/h2>\n<p>De groep sloot 2018 af met een omzet van 26,9 miljard euro, bijna een miljard meer dan in 2017. Opvallend is vooral de groei in de Aziatische regio, waar de omzet er met liefst 24% op vooruitging op vergelijkbare basis. De winst kwam neer op 3,9 miljard euro, 8,8% meer dan een jaar eerder.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Het is voor L\u2019Or\u00e9al de sterkste groei in tien jaar tijd, te danken aan de sterke Aziatische consumptie: \u201cJe hebt er honderden miljoenen consumenten die het inkomensniveau bereiken waarop ze zichzelf willen verwennen\u201d, zegt CEO Jean-Paul Agon aan CNBC. De topman is dan ook niet bang voor een vertraging van de Chinese economie: \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2019\/02\/08\/lipstick-effect-and-chinas-love-of-luxury-fuels-loreals-strongest-growth-in-a-decade.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">L&#8217;Oreal Paris is de nummer \u00e9\u00e9n in schoonheidsproducten in China<\/a> en <strong>Maybelline<\/strong> is er het nummer \u00e9\u00e9n make-upmerk, dus we hebben producten voor iedereen. We hebben nog steeds veel vertrouwen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Agon noemt de groei dan ook duurzaam: \u201cDe markt is versneld en kan sterk blijven in 2019. Er zijn veel redenen voor die sterke groei, zoals Azi\u00eb, e-commerce, \u2018travel retail\u2019 en huidverzorging, en al die redenen zullen er blijven, dus we zijn best optimistisch voor dit jaar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>West-Europa krijgt hopelijk lipstick-effect<\/h2>\n<p>Op de mature Westerse markten lag de groei nochtans heel wat lager: in Noord-Amerika steeg de omzet met 2,7%, maar in West-Europa was er zelfs een terugval van 0,3%. Toch ziet L\u2019Oreal ook daar een lichtpuntje, met name het lipstick-effect: als het economisch minder goed gaat, doen mensen minder grote uitgaven, maar gunnen ze zichzelf wel meer kleine verwennerijen, zoals make-up.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe kunnen er niet op verwedden dat de Europese economie komend jaar zal aanzwellen, maar we zetten er wel op in dat we meer marktaandeel zullen halen en onze eigen groei versnellen. Het goeie van L&#8217;Oreal is dat we alle segmenten, alle markten en alle categorie\u00ebn bedekken, dus als een ander deel van de markt sneller gaat, maken we daar gebruik van.
