De markt wordt wel gekenmerkt door grote regionale tegenstellingen en ook binnen productcategorie\u00ebn bestaan er grote verschillen.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Vlaanderen hinkt achterop<\/h2>\n<p>Vorig jaar spendeerden de Belgische consumenten <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pers.vlam.be\/nl\/pers\/detail\/5544\/de-biobestedingen-in-belgie-blijven-groeien\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">760 miljoen euro aan biologische producten<\/a>, een stijging met 15% tegenover 2017. Zeer opvallend is het lage aandeel van Vlaanderen in die uitgaven: slechts 38% van de bestedingen (289 miljoen euro) komt voor rekening van Vlaanderen. Zowel in relatieve als in absolute cijfers heeft het noorden van het land een achterstand op Walloni\u00eb. Het marktandeel van bio bedraagt 2,5% in Vlaanderen, tegenover ruim 6% in het zuiden. Bovendien groeit de sector sneller in het Franstalige landsgedeelte.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In de verse voeding is het marktaandeel van bioproducten gestegen van 3,3% naar 3,9%, maar binnen productcategorie\u00ebn bestaan er grote verschillen: biologische vleesvervangers hebben met 27% het grootste marktaandeel. Ook bio-eieren deden het vorig jaar uitstekend: het marktaandeel steeg naar 18,1% en daarmee waren eieren de sterkste groeier. Andere populaire bioproducten zijn onder meer aardappelen, groenten en fruit. Biovleeswaren hebben dan weer het kleinste marktaandeel met 1,2%.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Supermarkt verliest terrein<\/h2>\n<p>Biologische versproducten zijn gemiddeld een derde duurder dan de gangbare tegenhangers. Een bio-eitje is zelfs bijna dubbel zo duur als een standaard scharreleitje, maar het prijsverschil verkleint. Het kleinste prijsverschil is er bij vleesvervangers: hier is de biovariant slechts 16% duurder dan het gangbare product &#8211; wat mogelijk de koppositie van deze categorie qua marktaandeel verklaart.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Het hoeft dan ook niet te verwonderen dat welgestelde gezinnen met kinderen en jonge alleenstaanden het meest uitgeven aan bioproducten. Gezinnen met kinderen met een eerder beperkt inkomen hebben het laagste bio-aandeel (1,6% van de uitgaven aan verse voeding).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>De klassieke supermarkten hebben nog steeds het grootste marktaandeel (36%), maar ze verliezen wel terrein tegenover de andere kanalen. De gespecialiseerde winkels, zoals natuurvoedingswinkels maar ook <strong>Bio-Planet<\/strong>, hebben ondertussen een derde van de totale biomarkt in handen. De buurtwinkels zijn goed voor een aandeel van 14% en de harddiscounters halen zo\u2019n 10%.
