Dat zal dit jaar niet veel beter zijn: marktonderzoeksbureau GfK voorspelt in zijn <a href=\"https:\/\/geodata.gfk.com\/landingpages\/european-retail-in-2019\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jaarlijks rapport over de Europese retailsector<\/a> een groei met 2% voor 2019. Er zijn wel sterke verschillen binnen de Europese Unie: in de West-Europese landen stagneren de winkelomzetten, in de Oost-Europese landen gaan ze vooruit, ondanks dalende bevolkingsaantallen. In Belgi\u00eb groeide de fysieke retail in 2018 met 0,4%, in Nederland met 0,2%. Veel beter doen Bulgarije (+7,7%) en Roemeni\u00eb (+7,1%).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Er zijn verschillende oorzaken, zegt GfK. Hoewel het met de koopkracht in de meeste landen wel goed zit, speelt de onzekerheid over de brexit, handelsoorlogen en de groeivertraging op de Chinese markt. Vooral de aanhoudende groei van online weegt echter op de vooruitzichten voor stenen winkels. Volgend jaar zou de winkelomzet in Belgi\u00eb met 1,5% groeien, in Nederland met 0,5%.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Winkelsluitingen<\/h2>\n<p>De druk op stenen winkels blijkt ook uit de beperkte groei in winkeloppervlakte. In 2018 was de groei in vierkante meters geheel in lijn met de bevolkingsgroei, waardoor de verkoopoppervlakte stabiel bleef op 1,13 m\u00b2 per capita. Het aantal nieuwe retailprojecten daalt, de focus verschuift naar de herontwikkeling van bestaande sites. Klassieke shoppingcentra worden lifestylehubs met meer ruimte voor gastronomie, entertainment en gezondheid.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In het Verenigd Koninkrijk daalde de winkeloppervlakte per inwoner van 1,09 naar 1,08 m\u00b2 als gevolg van massale winkelsluitingen. De dichtst bewinkelde landen blijven Belgi\u00eb (1,66 m\u00b2\/capita) en Nederland (1,60 m\u00b2). De omzet per vierkante meter is het hoogst in Luxemburg (7.250 euro\/m\u00b2) gevolgd door Noorwegen (6.430 euro\/m\u00b2) en Zwitserland (6.220 euro\/m\u00b2). Belgi\u00eb (4.000 \u00e0 4.500 euro\/m\u00b2) en Nederland (3.500 \u00e0 4.000) zitten wat dat betreft in de middenmoot.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Omnichannel doet beter<\/h2>\n<p>Algemeen daalt trouwens het aandeel van winkelaankopen in het gezinsbudget van de Europese consument: retail vertegenwoordigt nog 30,5% van de private consumptie. De lange termijntrend is negatief, onder meer als gevolg van stijgende vastgoedprijzen, waardoor consumenten een groter deel van hun budget aan wonen moeten besteden.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>GfK wijst er wel op dat de vooruitzichten rooskleuriger zijn voor omnichannel retailers. In de sector van de consumentenelektronica groeide de omzet van webshops van traditionele winkelketens vorig jaar met 24%, terwijl <em>pure players<\/em> er met slechts 4% op vooruit gingen. Online heeft in dit segment nu een marktaandeel van 26%. In Nederland is dat 36%, in Groot-Brittanni\u00eb 35%.
