Die merken moeten dan wel maatschappelijk relevant zijn.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Overnames<\/h2>\n<p>Ooit telde Unilever 1600 merken, maar <a href=\"https:\/\/fd.nl\/ondernemen\/1304534\/unilever-maakt-draai-en-zet-in-op-fors-meer-merken\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">vandaag zijn het er nog 400<\/a>: uit besparingsoverwegingen werd het aantal merken rond de eeuwwisseling fors teruggeschroefd. Volgens Jope zal Unilever het aantal merken in zijn portefeuille echter opnieuw verhogen, via overnames en via het ontwikkelen van eigen merken. &#8220;De wereld fragmenteert. Dat geldt voor consumentengroepen, maar ook voor de verkoopkanalen.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sinds 2015 deed Unilever 32 overnames voor een totaal van 11 miljard euro. Het geeft aan dat de vorige CEO, Paul Polman, reeds inzette op meer merken. Unilever heeft de laatste jaren af te rekenen met een stagnerende groei. En zelfs al ging het om relatief kleine overnames, ze zorgden in het eerste kwartaal van dit jaar voor een extraatje van 70 basispunten. &#8220;Nu bedroeg de omzetgroei 3,1%, zonder de acquisities was dat 2,4% geweest.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Toch is het zeker niet de bedoeling om zomaar blindelings merken over te nemen: ze moeten zorgvuldig gekozen worden en een maatschappelijke relevantie hebben, bijvoorbeeld doordat ze bijdragen aan een schoner leefmilieu.
