Dat food lokaal is, meent Muller.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Duurzaamheid en verantwoordelijkheid \u201cmoeten\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>Retailers hebben hun verantwoordelijkheid te nemen, meent Frans Muller, sinds 1 juli vorig jaar topman van Ahold Delhaize. De supermarktgroep zet daarom in op duurzaamheid en gezonde voeding, zoals met voedingsdeskundigen op de winkelvloer in Amerika of het verminderen van plasticafval. Dat vertelt Muller in een terugblikinterview op zijn eerste jaar in het NRC Handelsblad.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cWe m\u00f3\u00e9ten een bijdrage leveren\u201d, zegt Muller tegenover NRC, die <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nrc.nl\/nieuws\/2019\/06\/28\/in-ons-bedrijf-en-ook-in-mijzelf-zit-zo-veel-emotie-a3965479\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ook wil zorgen voor de volgende generatie en die daarna<\/a>. \u201cHoe gaan we de ontbossing tegen? Wat doen we tegen het plasticprobleem?\u201d Hij begrijpt de ongerustheid, want \u201cer is ook geen enkele reden om er n\u00ed\u00e9t ongerust over te zijn\u201d, maar wijst er wel op dat verandering tijd vergt.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cVaak heb je heel veel partijen nodig om een kritische massa te bereiken voor je dit soort grote veranderingen kan bereiken: regeringen, leveranciers, concurrenten. Want je zou kunnen zeggen dat we een groot bedrijf zijn, met onze 62 miljard euro omzet en ruim 370.000 werknemers. Maar voor een aantal \u00e9cht complexe zaken zijn we nog steeds vrij klein\u201d, aldus de topman, die zelf bewust geen vlees eet.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>\u201cFood is lokaal\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>Over de bedreiging van spelers zoals Amazon of Alibaba toont Muller zich daarentegen minder ongerust. Online groeit bij Ahold Delhaize 30 tot 40%, klinkt het. \u201cBedrijven zoals Amazon en Alibaba zouden een disruptor k\u00fannen zijn. Maar dat moeten ze in de voeding eerst nog maar eens bewijzen. Want voeding is iets heel anders dan elektronica, kleding of boeken.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\u201cFood is lokaal\u201d, meent de topman, en dat heeft de supermarkt voor op de onlinereuzen. Het betekent ook dat de supermarktgroep het vak \u00e9n zijn klanten beter kent: \u201cIk denk dat wij heel veel kennis hebben over verse voeding die bij zulke partijen ontbreekt. Over inkopen, vervoeren, verwerken \u2013 allemaal kennis die wij in de afgelopen 150 jaar hebben opgebouwd.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Heel veel kennis over klanten<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cBovendien gaat een goede 70 procent van al onze verkopen via klantenkaarten. Dus we hebben h\u00e9\u00e9l veel kennis over de klanten die bij ons voeding kopen.\u201d Lokale voedingsvoorkeuren en -eigenheden, daar hebben die giganten zelfs helemaal geen verstand van, klinkt het resoluut.<\/p>\n<p>\nAhold Delhaize heeft in ieder geval \u201ceen sterk fundament\u201d, volgens Muller, waarop de topman nu verder wil bouwen.
