Topman Vincent Rousseau is er dan ook gerust in dat zijn damesmodegroep de crisis overleeft, met dank aan de buitenlandse expansie en de relatief beperkte schulden: &#8220;Paprika moet d\u00e9 referentie voor plusmaten in Europa worden.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Expansie opent deuren<\/h2>\n<p>De voorbije weken regende het onheilsberichten uit de modesector, met als meest bekende Belgische slachtoffers ongetwijfeld <strong>E5 Mode<\/strong> en <strong>FNG Group<\/strong> (Brantano). Vincent Rousseau, sinds kort CEO van modegroep Cassis Paprika, ziet de toekomst een stuk optimistischer tegemoet: &#8220;Natuurlijk lopen ook wij heel wat inkomsten mis. Maar we <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tijd.be\/ondernemen\/retail\/buitenlandse-groei-helpt-paprika-winkels-in-coronastrijd\/10230825.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">zullen de coronacrisis te boven komen<\/a>&#8220;, zegt hij in De Tijd. De topman houdt voor dit jaar wel rekening met een omzetdaling, maar gaat er niettemin van uit dat de inkomsten zullen volstaan om de kosten te dekken. &#8220;We gingen de crisis sterk tegemoet, met schulden die minder dan twee keer zo groot waren als onze brutobedrijfswinst.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Naast die vrij beperkte schuldenberg, wijst Rousseau op het belang van de buitenlandse expansie van de voorbije jaren. In vijf jaar opende Paprika een zestigtal buitenlandse filialen, waardoor de omzet de afgelopen drie jaar met de helft toenam tot 75\u00a0miljoen euro (of zelfs 91\u00a0miljoen euro inclusief zustermerk Cassis). 60% van de omzet komt van buiten Belgi\u00eb, verduidelijkt de topman. Het bedrijf boekte vorig jaar een brutobedrijfswinst van 6,3\u00a0miljoen euro, vooral dankzij die buitenlandse winkels. In Belgi\u00eb werden wel enkele verlieslatende filialen gesloten.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Voorkeursmerk<\/h2>\n<p>Paprika wil nu uitgroeien tot het (online) voorkeursmerk bij uitstek voor grotere maten in Europa. Tijdens de lockdownmaanden kon het merk ongeveer een derde van zijn omzet behouden door recordverkopen via internet, tegen het eind van de lockdown ging het zelfs om 45%. &#8220;De gezondheidscrisis heeft de ontwikkeling van onze online verkoop versneld. Maar de basis voor succes was al gelegd: een team met ervaring in online en digitale marketing, een betrouwbare en flexibele <em>supply chain<\/em>, sterke interacties met onze klanten en partnerships met e-commerce giganten als <strong>Zalando<\/strong>, <strong>Otto<\/strong> of <strong>Wehkamp<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>De coronapandemie zal ook gevolgen hebben voor nieuwe winkelopeningen in Europa. Het plan om jaarlijks tien tot twintig nieuwe vestigingen te openen, wordt opgeschort. Enkel in Duitsland zullen er dit jaar nog zes winkels bijkomen. Voor het overige wil het bedrijf vooral in e-commerce blijven investeren. &#8220;Ondanks de huidige ongekende omstandigheden hebben we alle kaarten in handen om een echt Belgisch succesverhaal te ontwikkelen. Onze ambitie blijft onveranderd: van Paprika het voorkeursmerk maken voor dameskleding in de plusmaat.
