Hetzelfde geldt voor 80 procent van de Nederlanders. \u201cEn t\u00f3ch krijgt die minderheid van store switchers alle aandacht\u201d, verzucht Jean-Jacques Vandenheede. \u201cOnbegrijpelijk!\u201d In zijn presentatie vanochtend tijdens het congres \u2018What\u2019s Going on in Retailing\u2019 veegde Vandenheede de vloer aan met managers die hijgerig achter trends aanrennen. <\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHet is hooguit turbulentie\u201d, aldus de senior retail industry analyst van Nielsen Europe. \u201cAls dat in het vliegtuig gebeurt, zegt de piloot fasten your seat belts en vliegt vervolgens gewoon verder totdat de turbulentie is verdwenen. Zo niet in de sector consumentenartikelen. Daar wordt \u00e9lke trend ge\u00efnterpreteerd en moeten bedrijven erop reageren.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Stabiel<\/h2>\n<p>Er zijn volgens Vandenheede teveel trends die klakkeloos worden overgenomen en herhaald. \u201cIedereen roept maar dat de consument steeds sneller moet beslissen en steeds vaker shopt, maar \u00eds dat wel zo? Wij meten dat voor een aantal grote Europese markten het aantal shopping trips per vier weken al jarenlang een stabiel beeld geeft. Hetzelfde geldt voor de gemiddelde besteding per trip. Ook hoor je elk jaar dat er teveel winkels zijn. In Europa zijn sinds het jaar 2000 alleen maar meer hypermarkten en grote en kleine supermarkten bijgekomen.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 10px;margin-left: 10px\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" align=\"right\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" src=\"\/sites\/default\/files\/spacer.png\" \/>Paniek<\/h2>\n<p>Omzetverdeling naar format is nog zo\u2019n misvatting, stelt Vandenheede. \u201cDe procentuele omzetverdeling per format ligt al dertig jaar vast. Uiteraard zijn er binnen formats verschuivingen, zoals kleine, ineffici\u00ebnte supers die het loodje leggen, maar daarvoor komen dan weer andere winkels in de plaats. Vaak ook discounters. In hypermarkten zie je sinds een aantal jaren w\u00e9l een behoorlijke teruggang. Daar is de omzet met 7 procent gedaald. Vandaar de paniek in dat segment en pogingen \u2013 met name door Carrefour \u2013 om meer sfeer en beleving in hypermarkten te brengen.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Geen revolutie<\/h2>\n<p>Over online shopping wordt volgens de Nielsen-onderzoeker veel gesproken, maar op basis van gegevens van de Britse en Amerikaanse markt, toont Vandenheede aan dat online nog maar een heel klein deel van de consumenten in Groot-Brittanni\u00eb en de VS aanleiding heeft gegeven om de aankoopgewoontes te wijzigen. \u201cEn dat terwijl online shopping al een jaar of 15 in de belangstelling staat\u201d, zegt hij. \u201cOok deze ontwikkeling is heel geleidelijk. Er zijn geen revolutionaire processen aan de gang. Al die hypes en trends tonen aan dat de sector teveel bezig is met de golven op de zee.
