E-commerce is echter &#8217;tricky business&#8217;, want het business model is nog niet bewezen.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Zowel in de Verenigde Staten als in Europa is er Ahold veel aan gelegen om de <strong>online toevoerketen goed op poten te krijgen<\/strong>: een effici\u00ebnt systeem waar de internetbestellingen in volledig geautomatiseerde distributiecentra worden klaargemaakt voor bezorging aan huis of \u2013 en dat heeft Ahold het liefst \u2013 het ophaalmoment in een van de afhaalpunten.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Automatisering en de klanten die zelf de bestellingen ophalen, zullen de <strong>angel uit de kostenstructuur van online moeten halen<\/strong>. Loonkosten en complexiteit hebben immers een funeste uitwerking op het rendement van online. Op het EFMI Najaarscongres in 2012 realiseerde Ahold-bestuurslid Sander van der Laan zich terdege dat <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.retaildetail.nl\/case-van-de-week\/item\/14158-online-omzet-betekent-nog-geen-online-winst\" rel=\"noopener\">online omzet nog geen online winst betekent<\/a>, maar ook toen sprak hij zijn volste vertrouwen uit in het uiteindelijke succes van online.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dat is voor Ahold van harte te hopen, want <strong>in de offline kernactiviteiten waait de tegenwind<\/strong>, al zijn door het succes van &#8216;simplicity&#8217; \u2013 een van de strategische pijlers die voortdurende kosteneffici\u00ebntie inhoudt \u2013 de resultaten onder de streep nog net te compenseren. Hoewel Ahold volhoudt dat dit een structureel proces is, kan de retailer niet om het feit heen dat je op een gegeven moment meer effect sorteert door succes aan de opbrengsten-kant dan bij de kosten. Online ligt aan beide zijden van de Atlantische oceaan dan ook de grote uitdaging voor Ahold.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Europese reorganisatie<\/h2>\n<p>Ondertussen kondigt het bedrijf <strong>voor de Europese activiteiten een reorganisatie aan<\/strong>, waarbij de (vooralsnog) niet verkochte operatie in Tsjechi\u00eb rechtstreeks onder supervisie van CEO Dick Boer komt en COO Sander van der Laan zich met zijn team helemaal kan richten op de uitbouw van het merk Albert Heijn in Nederland, Belgi\u00eb en Duitsland.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Nederland staan de resultaten echter onder druk en <strong>woedt nog altijd de veenbrand in de relatie met de Albert Heijn-franchisers<\/strong>, een hardnekkig dispuut dat maar blijft voortwoekeren. Bovendien blijft de negatieve prijsperceptie van Albert Heijn de retailer parten spelen: net nu C1000 wordt uitgerangeerd, ontstaan er nieuwe luizen in de pels \u2013 waarvan Lidl de grootste is.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Duitsland is vooralsnog een experiment, maar in Belgi\u00eb \u2013 waar de formule een beter prijsimago heeft en meer voldoende ruimte voor verdere groei van de winkeloperatie \u2013 heeft Albert Heijn meer lucht. Het scenario voor Albert Heijn is, zoals Dick Boer zei in zijn toelichting op de herstructurering van Ahold Europe, dat de keten zal veranderen in een omnichannel retailbedrijf. Daarbij wordt de <strong>online business net zo belangrijk als de traditionele winkeloperatie<\/strong>.
