De groep uit Seattle sloot zijn fiscale boekjaar 2013 af met een recordomzet van 14,9 miljard dollar (10,8 miljard euro, +12%) en een nettowinst van 2,5 miljard dollar (1,8 miljard euro, +23%).<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Toch is CEO Howard Schultz niet van plan om op zijn lauweren te gaan rusten. Tijdens de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20140319005919\/en#.Uyqn6qh5PJM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">algemene aandeelhoudersvergadering in Seattle<\/a> liet de CEO niet de minste twijfel bestaan over zijn ambities: &#8220;We <strong>mikken op een marktwaarde van 100 miljard dollar<\/strong> of meer&#8221;, zei de Starbucks-topman, wiens bedrijf vandaag op de beurs zo&#8217;n 57 miljard dollar (41 miljard euro) waard is.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Apps en getrouwheidsprogramma<\/h2>\n<p>Om dat ambitieuze doel te halen, ontvouwde Schultz een plan dat \u2013 <strong>naast expansie in China en India<\/strong> \u2013 vooral de vertragende groei op de Amerikaanse thuismarkt een halt moet toeroepen. In dat kader <a href=\"nl\/m-tail\/item\/17888-starbucks-laat-smartphonegebruikers-niet-meer-wachten\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">werkt de keten aan nieuwe apps<\/a>, waarmee de klant bijvoorbeeld zijn bestelling al kan plaatsen nog voor hij in het Starbucks-filiaal is.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Daarnaast blijft Starbucks&#8217; chief digital officer Adam Brotman ook <strong>volop inzetten op de Starbucks Card<\/strong> en het My Starbucks Rewards-getrouwheidsprogramma. Logisch, want een kwart van alle transacties is intussen al afkomstig van die kaarthouders, die alleen al in de Verenigde Staten met meer dan 8 miljoen zijn.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>&#8220;Theesegment heruitvinden&#8221;<\/h2>\n<p>Maar Starbucks zoekt ook groei buiten de vertrouwde (koffie)paden: zo <strong>wil de groep sterk groeien in het theesegment<\/strong>, een markt die wereldwijd zo&#8217;n 60 miljard euro vertegenwoordigt en &#8220;rijp is voor vernieuwing&#8221;, aldus Howard Schultz. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/article\/2012\/11\/15\/us-teavana-starbucks-idUSBRE8AD1JW20121115\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Starbucks nam een jaar geleden het merk Teavana over<\/a> en wil &#8220;nu met thee doen wat we eerder met koffie gedaan hebben&#8221;: van een basisdrank een &#8216;beleving&#8217; maken.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sinds die overname <strong>opende Starbucks bijna veertig nieuwe Teavana-verkooppunten<\/strong> (vooral in winkelcentra) en dit jaar staan er nog een twintigtal op de agenda.
