Ook de winstcijfers nemen flink toe. Voor verdere stappen in e-commerce lijkt de discounter nog niet klaar.<\/p>\n<p><!--break--><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Groei in VK en Frankrijk<\/h2>\n<p>De internationale activiteiten van Lidl \u2013 die goed zijn voor 65% van de omzet van het bedrijf \u2013 kenden in het gebroken boekjaar 2020-2021 een omzetgroei van 9,5% tot 62,3\u00a0miljard euro. Daarmee doet de retailer beter dan de meeste sectorgenoten. Opmerkelijk is het feit dat de discounter een sterke groei kende in enkele mature en zeer competitieve markten: in het Verenigd Koninkrijk bijvoorbeeld ging de omzet er met 12% op vooruit, in Frankrijk bedroeg de groei zelfs 14%.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Het feit dat de investeringen (&#8216;capex&#8217;) in dezelfde periode met 10% daalden, wijst erop dat de omzetgroei van de retailer voor een belangrijk deel te danken is aan marktaandeelwinst in verschillende landen. Dat concluderen analisten van Barclays die de bedrijfsresultaten van Lidl International konden inkijken. Lidl bleef nieuwe winkels openen en bestaande verkooppunten moderniseren, maar betrad tijdens het betreffende boekjaar geen nieuwe landen. De keten nam wel de beslissing om in oktober 2021 in Letland van start te gaan. Estland, Bosni\u00eb en Herzegovina en Montenegro zouden voor dit jaar op de planning staan.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Hoge marge<\/h2>\n<p>De pandemie had uiteindelijk maar een beperkte impact op de kostenstructuur van de internationale divisie van Lidl. De personeelskosten stegen licht, maar de andere operationele kosten daalden. Daardoor steeg de EBIT met 24,5%, verbeterde de marge met 50\u00a0basispunten tot 4,5% en steeg de nettowinst met 24% tot 2\u00a0miljard euro, het hoogste niveau sinds\u00a02012. Dat is bijzonder sterk: enkel <strong>Ahold Delhaize<\/strong> doet beter, met een marge van 4,8% in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Om de sterke prestaties de komende jaren door te trekken, wil Lidl verder blijven inzetten op fysieke expansie, maar ook \u2013 en voor het eerst \u2013 geeft de retailer aan online ambities te koesteren. Dat wordt onder andere ge\u00efllustreerd door het aantrekken van enkele ervaren digitale managers van bij <strong>Amazon<\/strong> en koffieketen <strong>Tchibo<\/strong>. Voor een lageprijzenspeler is e-commerce wegens de kostenstructuur echter geen evidentie, stipt Barclays aan.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>Digitale diensten<\/h2>\n<p>Ondanks een test met &#8216;click &amp; collect&#8217; in Polen en een samenwerking met bezorgapp Buymie in het VK, zien de analisten dan ook geen aanwijzingen dat Lidl op korte termijn nieuwe e-commerceactiviteiten zou ontwikkelen. Ze verwachten wel dat de retailer marktaandeel zal blijven winnen door een ambitieus winkelopeningsprogramma en de uitrol van nieuwe diensten zoals het digitale getrouwheidsprogramma Lidl Plus, dat in steeds meer landen gelanceerd wordt. Ook maakt de discounter werk van de mobiele betaaloplossing Lidl Pay.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Of de groei van Lidl een impact heeft op de concurrentiepositie van andere retailers? In de Verenigde Staten wil de discounter \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.retaildetail.be\/nl\/news\/food\/lidl-duwt-door-vs-met-zoveelste-ceo-wissel\">met alweer een nieuwe CEO<\/a> \u2013 het winkelnetwerk verdubbelen, maar tot nu toe had die expansie geen merkbare impact op Ahold Delhaize, dat deels in dezelfde regio\u2019s actief is.
