Daarmee bleef het concern echter wel onder de lat die de analisten op 3,1% hadden gelegd. Door de relatief dure euro bleek de jaaromzet na omrekening van de opbrengsten in vreemde valuta af te klokken op 48,4 miljard euro, dat is 2,7% minder goed dan in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Vooral het vierde kwartaal viel tegen: met een stijging van 2,1% bleef dat een half procentpunt onder de analistenverwachting (2,6%). De stijging is bovendien volledig toe te schrijven aan hogere prijzen (+2,5%), want in volume was er een daling met 0,4%.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Unilever zag de omzetgroei in opkomende markten vorig jaar afzwakken naar 5,7% en de opbrengsten in Europa en Noord-Amerika dalen met 0,8%. Het bedrijf groeit nog wel in drie van de vier divisies: Personal Care (shampoo, deodorant, doucheproducten), Refreshment (ijs en dranken) en Home Care (verzorging, wasmiddelen, zeep). Bij Foods (sauzen, boter, margarines) daalde de omzet iets, onder meer door de lagere vraag naar margarine.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>2015 belooft niet veel beterschap<\/h2>\n<p>Ondanks die tegenvallende verkoop viel de nettowinst toch flink hoger uit dan verwacht &#8220;dankzij een goede beheersing van de kosten&#8221;. Unilever boekte in 2014 een winst van 5,5 miljard euro, een half miljard meer dan waar de analisten op hadden gerekend en 5% beter dan in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Topman Paul Polman verwacht echter niet meteen dat de resultaten in het lopende jaar veel beter zullen worden.
