FMCG-fabrikanten lanceren beduidend minder innovaties, terwijl foodretailers hun assortiment rationaliseren en zo de slaagkansen van introducties nog verkleinen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Afnemend vertrouwen<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Vorig jaar introduceerden FMCG-fabrikanten in zes Europese landen (Duitsland, Frankrijk, Itali\u00eb, Nederland, Spanje en het Verenigd Koninkrijk) 144.432&nbsp;nieuwe producten: dat zijn er liefst 16,5%&nbsp;minder dan de 172.997 die ze in&nbsp;2021 lanceerden. In Frankrijk viel het aantal productlanceringen zelfs terug met bijna \u00e9\u00e9n derde, van&nbsp;27.317 naar&nbsp;19.843. Dat blijkt uit een studie van onderzoeksbureau Circana (het resultaat van de fusie tussen IRI en NPD).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zowel fabrikanten als retailers geven nu prioriteit aan hun bestaande kernassortiment om hun volumes en marktaandeel te beschermen, denken de onderzoekers. Mogelijk weerspiegelen de cijfers ook een afnemend vertrouwen in het aanrekenen van een hogere prijs voor nieuwe producten, een lastige oefening immers in tijden van hoge inflatie en kostenbewuste shoppers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Concurrentie in het schap<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Vooral grote fabrikanten hebben het aantal productintroducties teruggeschroefd. Kleinere en middelgrote ondernemingen, die sneller weten te reageren op veranderingen in de markt, waren goed voor 75% van het aantal nieuwe producten en voor 68% van de door innovaties gerealiseerde omzet. Amper \u00e9\u00e9n op de vier nieuwe producten werd dus nog door grote merkfabrikanten op de markt gebracht. In verhouding leverden die wel een grotere marktaandeelwaarde op: 32% van de totale omzet van nieuwe producten.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volgens Circana blijft innovatie ook in moeilijke tijden een bron van duurzame groei. Merkfabrikanten hebben productlanceringen nodig om hun groei en marktaandeel te behouden. Nieuwe producten wakkeren de vraag aan, ondanks de inflatie. Maar de concurrentie in het schap neemt wel toe: retailers rationaliseren hun assortiment en schrappen producten met lagere rotaties. Dat maakt het voor nieuwe producten moeilijker dan ooit om te overleven. Van alle nieuwe producten die in 2021 werden gelanceerd, bleef 74% het tweede jaar nog in de schappen liggen. 23% van de referenties verdubbelde wel de omzet in dat tweede jaar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Leidt de kostencrisis tot verschraling in het winkelschap?
